I have been trying to justify buying a quadcopter that carries a GoPro for the past year, so I did the next best thing. Cameralensrentals.com were nice enough to rent me one of their new customized DJI Phantom 2 drones for a week. I took the drone to my dad’s farmhouse in Waterford Pennsylvania for the 4th of July weekend. My dad was brave enough to let me borrow his GoPro to strap onto the drone. I crashed it hard the first flight and thought it was done for the week, but I was able to get it back in the air. I learned later the WiFi from the GoPro needs to be turned off or it can interfere with the controls. I experimented with the GoPro in 2 modes: 1080p 60fps and Time-Lapse 1 per sec. It was hard to send it back after becoming addicted to flying it. Here’s a clip of some of the footage along with some photos.
